Sri Lanka fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera has been ruled out for the rest of the T20 World Cup.

After suffering a calf injury that kept him out of the 2022 Asia Cup, Chameera was reinstated to the World Cup roster after recovering.

The end of 30-year-old’s last bowling turn proved to be problematic. He appeared to suffer an injury during the last over, and he was seen shaking his head as he slowly walked off the field. Playing a key role in Sri Lanka’s 79-run win over the United Arab Emirates in Geelong, 3 for 15 is the best figure ever achieved by this bowler.

The Sri Lankan team has several health complaints with its athletes. Danushka Gunathilaka, the team’s batter, has hamstring issues that have kept him off the field for long periods of time. Additionally, Pramod Madushan, the team’s pace bowler, has similar issues with his lower back. As a result of these issues, both players have been sidelined for significant portions of time. Although they currently sit in third place overall with only two points, they’ve lost the first game of the tournament to Namibia.
